Ramayana Competition Rules

General Rules

  1. Registration
    • Registration and submission timeline for the competition will be from April 19, 2026, to July 19, 2026 (previously June 19th).
      Note: The Prelimnary round has been extended for 30 days owing to popular demand.
    • Last date for submissions is on or before July 19, 2026.
  2. Communication
    • Participants will be emailed the details of each of their selected categories in terms of topics (where applicable), rules & submission.
  3. Rounds
    • There will be two rounds in the competition –
      • Preliminary Round (submission-based)
      • Final Round (submission-based for shortlisted participants)
      • Prelim and Final winners will be notified via email.
  4. Source Content/Topics selected for Quiz, Drawing and Essay
    • Prelims: Valmiki Ramayana
    • Finals: Mainly from Valmiki Ramayana, Ramacharitamanas, Kamba Ramayana, Tulasidas Ramayana among others.
  5. Category selection
    • Multiple category participation is allowed.
    • Each category has a separate fee.
    • The first five junior entries will be charged ₹99 per category.
  6. Submission Mode
    • All entries must be submitted through the official Google Form upload link.
    • The Google Form upload link will be shared with the participant via email after the registration.
    • Submissions through any other medium will not be accepted.
  7. Submission Deadline
    • The last day for Prelim submission is, on or before July 19th, 2026.
      Note: The prelimnary round has been extended from June 19th to July 19th owning to popular demand.
    • All entries must be submitted on or before the specified deadline.
    • Late submissions will not be considered.
  8. File Naming Convention (Mandatory)
    • All files must be named as: RegisteredName_Category_PhoneNumber
      Example: jayanth_singing_9845429418
    • Incorrectly named files may be rejected.
  9. Language Rules
    • Drawing, Essay, Quiz: English only
    • Singing: Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam or Sanskrit
  10. Participant Responsibility
    • Participants must ensure:
      • registration under the correct age group
      • correct category selection
      • correct file upload
      • proper file format and naming
    • The organizers are not responsible for incorrect submissions.
  11. Evaluation
    • All entries will be evaluated by the judging panel.
    • The decision of the judges will be final and binding.
  12. Certificates & Prizes
    • All participants will receive participation certificates.
    • Winners will be awarded prizes as announced.
    • Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.
    • Senior citizens (above 60 years) who win the first prize, will not be eligible for the Ayodhya trip, They will be given an equivalent prize.
  13. Disqualification
    • Entries may be disqualified for:
      • incorrect information
      • violation of rules
      • inappropriate content
      • multiple or duplicate submissions
      • registering under the wrong age category
  14. Organizer Rights
    • The organizers reserve the right to:
      • modify rules if required
      • reject any entry without prior notice
      • use submitted content for promotional purposes

Quiz Rules

  1. Age Categories
    • Youth: 13–20 years
    • Open: 21+ years
  2. Rules
    • Quiz will be conducted online on a designated platform.
    • Participation is individual only.
    • Total Questions: 25 MCQs.
    • Time Limit: 8 minutes.
    • One correct answer per question.
    • One attempt only per participant.
  3. Scoring
    • +1 for correct answer
    • No negative marking
  4. Evaluation Criteria
    • Highest score
    • Time taken
  5. Disqualification
    • Multiple attempts
    • Use of unfair means
    • Sharing quiz content

Singing Rules

  1. Age Categories
    • Junior: 5–12 years
    • Youth: 13–20 years
    • Open: 21+ years
  2. Rules
    • Performance must be solo only.
    • Song must be: Carnatic / Abhang / Bhajan
    • No film songs allowed
    • Song based on Lord Rama or Ramayana only.
    • Submission must be a video file (.mp4 – H.264).
    • Maximum duration: 5 minutes.
    • Maximum file size: 500 MB.
    • Resolution: 720p or 1080p.
    • Orientation: Landscape.
    • Video must:
      • clearly show the participant
      • have clear audio and video
      • be a single continuous recording (no edits)
      • participant must be dressed in traditional attire
      • must have a clear white background with proper lighting
      • accompanying instrument: only tambura or shruthi box allowed
      • not have any audio/video effects and/or filters
    • Allowed languages: Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam or Sanskrit.
    • Only one submission per registration.
  3. Disqualification
    • Group performances
    • Edited or studio-enhanced recordings
    • Poor audio/video quality
    • Content not related to theme

Drawing Rules

  1. Age Categories
    • Junior: 5–12 years
    • Youth: 13–20 years
  2. Rules
    • Participants must draw based on themes provided by the organizers.
    • Photograph or scanned copy of the hand-drawn artwork must be submitted as JPG/PNG.
    • Maximum file size: 10 MB.
    • Only hand-drawn or hand-drawn and coloured artwork is permitted.
    • Image must be:
      • clear and sharp
      • well-lit
      • fully visible and properly oriented
    • Digital art is not allowed.
    • Use of pre-drawn outlines, coloring sheets, or tracing is not permitted.
    • Artwork must be created by the participant.
    • Only one submission per registration.
  3. Disqualification
    • Copied, traced, or AI-generated work.
    • Poor-quality or unclear images.
    • Incorrect format, size, or naming.

Essay Writing Rules

  1. Age Categories
    • Youth: 13–20 years
    • Open: 21+ years
  2. Rules
    • Essay must be typed and submitted as .pdf or .txt.
    • Maximum file size: 2 MB.
    • Language: English only.
    • Word Count: Between 800–1200 words only.
    • Content must be original and relevant to the selected topic.
    • Only one submission per registration.
  3. Disqualification
    • Plagiarized or AI-generated content.
    • Incorrect format, size, or language.
    • Multiple submissions.
